Recognising action of direct relevance to tackling climate change, The Earth Care Award honoured HELP-O NGO Sri Lanka (our parent organisation) for city-wide solid waste management work that reduced methane emissions through community participation in Galle city, Sri Lanka. HELP-O NGO was also awarded the 21st IYSH Memorial Fund Award from Japan.
HELPO ECO GREEN LTD was established in 2011 as a partner organisation of HELP-O NGO Sri Lanka. The company is a profitable entity registered under Section 07 of the 2007 Companies Act with the Registrar of Companies in Sri Lanka.
The Regional Network of Local Authorities for the Management of Human Settlements, committed to improving the sustainability of human settlements across the Asia-Pacific. HELP-O NGO has been a member since 1996, with staff trained through CITYNET programs.
Registered under Sri Lanka's Social Welfare Act in 2007, SLNF coordinates capacity-building work for member organisations and links to the UNDP/SGP/GEF Program. HELP-O is an active member.
Operating in Sri Lanka since 1967, UNDP supports the country's Millennium Development Goals and poverty reduction agenda. HELP-O has worked with UNDP on community development projects.
IUCN supports scientific research and field projects worldwide, bringing governments, NGOs and communities together on conservation policy. HELP-O partnered with IUCN in 2009.
Established in 1981 under the National Environmental Act, the CEA regulates Sri Lanka's environmental management. HELPO ECO GREEN LTD is a CEA-registered consultant for waste management activities.
Established in 2007 to help local authorities address solid waste management, following a JICA study. HELP-O has completed many biogas projects with NSWMSC's financial support.
